‘Project INSPIRE’ delivers innovative future
In late 2020, the 2,500 students on Anguilla were falling behind due to challenges caused by a devastating hurricane, COVID-19, and other funding challenges that limited access to technology. The Anguilla Initiative, a non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of education, health, and social well-being of native Anguillans, stepped in to help the department of education implement and fund a strategic technology program called Project INSPIRE.
Year two of updated edtech rollouts have started to unfold across the island—providing more opportunities for both students and teachers to learn using the latest tech.
Orealia Kelly Primary School (OKPS) was the first school to benefit from Project INSPIRE, and received electrical and wireless upgrades, Lenovo devices for all students and teachers, an ActivPanel for every classroom, and teacher training to help implement the new technology.
Based on the success at OKPS, Project INSPIRE will continue to support Anguilla’s students and teachers by equipping all primary and secondary schools on the island with new technology. Vivian Vanterpool Primary School and Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School are the next institutions slated for upgrades, which leaves only four schools left to be brought online.
Generous donations including laptops, panels, and software licenses push Project INSPIRE rollouts forward and drastically reduce the remaining budget needed for the supporting infrastructure.
