New partnership seeks to modernize classrooms and advance ICT
solutions for all Russian students
Blackburn, UK (21 September 2012) – Promethean, a global education company, signed an agreement today with Polymedia, a leading Russian systems integrator and provider of education solutions, to be the distributor in the territory of Russian Federation.
When interactive whiteboards were introduced to the market 15 years ago, Polymedia was among the first companies in the Russian market to introduce interactive whiteboards. Promethean will work with the company to deliver and distribute integrated, interactive solutions so that all Russian students have access to 21st Century learning opportunities.
“It is important to us to move forward, offering customers not only good equipment, but comprehensive integrated solutions that also have an ability to track the effectiveness of their use,” said Polymedia CEO Elena Novikova. “Giving schools the immediate access to education data collected at all levels – class, school, district, city, region and even at the federal level – allows them to control and monitor the educational process.”
Although the number of Russian schools with 21st Century learning environments trails UK and United States, 30,000 students across the country engage in lessons and self-paced learning activities using Promethean ActivExpression devices and 19,000 classrooms are equipped with ActivBoards. Earlier this year, Promethean was awarded a tender to furnish 8,700 classrooms in Moscow with ActivBoard 500 Systems. To support this project, an extensive teacher training program was developed in collaboration with Moscow Department of Education, Department of Informational Technologies, Analytical Informational Centre of Moscow.

When classrooms have 21st Century learning tools, teachers are empowered. Students are engaged and can collaborate on project-based activities. But more importantly, research has shown that learning gains are greater by about 16 percentile points.”
The contract signed today will take effect on October 23, 2012.
