Teacher Appreciation 2023

Join Promethean as we celebrate the ones who spark imagination, instill hope, and create the love of learning. Promethean Teacher Appreciation will host teachers from around the nation sharing ideas on ways to integrate Promethean hardware and software directly into daily instruction, along with free lesson resources and giveaways!

Teacher Appreciation

Carrie-Jo Wallace

Carrie-Jo (CJ) Wallace is the visual arts teacher for 4th and 5th grade at the Ron Clark Academy. Her passion for art, math, technology, and science shines through in all of her creative endeavors, lessons, and projects. She loves to integrate art into all content areas to increase rigor, engagement, a deeper sense of self, and a higher level of learning. She finds great joy in bringing new mediums to students and helping them find their inner artist! She is the founding member of Ron Clark Academy’s first chapter of the National Junior Art Honor Society, and created the Curious Creatives art club.

CJ graduated with Suma Cum Laude honors from the State University of New York College at Cortland, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she was honored with the Helen E. Smith Award for Excellence in Student Teaching. She moved to Osceola County in Florida, and during her first year, she was given the honor of being named First Year Teacher of the Year. She was also a math and science coach for K-5, creating events and clubs that increased appreciation and interest in those areas. She became a leader within the school and her district, creating and leading professional development in the areas of technology, math, and science. Recently, CJ was named one of the National Art Education Association’s Crayola Creativity Ambassadors.

CJ is a proud wife and mother to four children. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Emily Camar

Emily has been in education for eight years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Special Education from Valdosta State University. After graduation, Emily continued her education at Valdosta State to receive her Master of Education in Early Childhood Education while working as a graduate research assistant in the Education Department. She has always been passionate about integrating new technologies into her classroom throughout her studies and career. After teaching in upper elementary, Emily became the Digital Classroom Support Specialist for Nassau County School District.

Michelle Farque

Michelle is an Instructional Coach for Calcasieu Parish Early Childhood and is an ISTE Certified Educator with 18 years of experience in a technology enriched classroom. She has taught K-3rd grade with the last 16 years in Kindergarten.. Michelle has been involved in developing and implementing ELA and Math curriculum across her district. She has also developed and presented professional development on a variety of EdTech topics. Michelle has a passion for making learning fun for students and teaching fun for teachers!

Anne Truger

Anne Truger is a Digital Learning Specialist at TrueNorth Educational Cooperative 804. She has over 20 years of classroom experience in Special Ed, Instructional Tech and Administration. She is a Google for Education Certified Trainer, Google Certified Innovator, DEN STAR, Tech4Learning Innovative Educator, past President of ICE (Illinois) and former co-chair for the ICE Conference. She is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in partnership with ISTE: Supervision and Leadership program. She has been using Promethean products since 2004 and enjoys sharing all of the amazing things you can do with ActivInspire. She loves all things technology and loves to share her love of learning.

3:30 PM – 4:15 PM EDT Keynote: Carrie-Jo Wallace Bring It On: Increasing Engagement in the Classroom Learn how to easily increase student engagement, creativity, rigor, and FUN! CJ will show you her favorite quick tips on how to utilize the timer, spinner, annotate, dual mode, and white board features to draw students into the content. See a lesson that showcases screen share and the annotate feature to incorporate higher order thinking skills while demonstrating how students can perform error analysis and work on presentation skills. Taught through an arts integration lens that can be easily adapted into any content area, these tips will also save the busiest teacher valuable time!
4:20 PM – 4:50 PM EDT Sheila Wolsker, Education Consultant Dread the End of the Day? Let’s Play Do you dread the end of the school day? Is flicking the lights on and off not working anymore? In this session, you will walk away with a new strategy that will get your kids motivated to pack up without complaining. Get ready to play games and leave with a list of over 40 games that you can implement in your classroom. Come learn how to end each day on a high note! Let’s play!
4:55 PM – 5:20 PM EDT Megan VanWart, Education Consultant Student Centered Learning Made Easy with Promethean Quick and easy tips tto shift instruction towards student-centered work while leveraging ActivPanel features to keep students engaged and motivated.
5:25 PM – 6:10 PM EDT Keynote: Emily Wiggins Powerful Engagement with Promethean Attendees will discover ways to integrate the embedded Promethean apps, like Whiteboard, Timer, and Spinners, to maximize their learning impact and increase student engagement in whole-group and small-group settings from kindergarten to 12th grade.
6:15 PM – 6:45 PM EDT Amy Tice, Education Consultant Dual Differentiated Instruction Knowing how, when and if students will need scaffolding in order to access content being can be tricky. Through the use of the Whiteboard app on the panel learn how to differentiate content as you teach.
6:50 PM – 7:15 PM EDT Michelle Farque, Education Consultant Create Fun Activities Instantly & Easily The activities included in ActivInspire are so amazing and easy to use. They allow the teacher to create easy and engaging learning activities on the promethean board. Students love them and teachers will too – once they realize the ease in which they can create such activities.
7:20 PM – 7:50 PM EDT Abigail Southard, Education Consultant ActivInspire Game Shows Learn how to utilize our ActivInspire software to create and present engaging game show review lessons modeled on some of your favorite television game shows. You will walk away with two ready-to-customize templates and the knowledge of how to create your own!
