Tinkering involves hands-on exploration, experimentation, and building, allowing children to engage in open-ended activities that stimulate curiosity and ignite a passion for learning. This session will provide teachers of primary grades with practical strategies, tools, and insights to integrate tinkering into the curriculum while using their Promethean ActivPanel.

Session Description: In our Pumpkin Catapult lesson, teachers and students will explore the exciting world of projectile motion and engineering. The main goals of the lesson are to help students grasp the fundamentals of projectile motion, construct a basic catapult, and implement the engineering design process to enhance their creations. Presenting this information using ActivInspire, teachers will gain knowledge and use their technology as a collaboration station for students to brainstorm their build before using materials to construct in real-life.

Putting the ‘A’ in STEAM

Session Description: Join us for a dynamic session where we’ll explore how to seamlessly integrate art into the STEAM curriculum. Wassily Kandinsky’s artistic genius will serve as our inspiration. We’ll use the Whiteboard for brainstorming, the Chromium browser to create digital art, and Screen Share to showcase students’ work!

Bring Rube Goldberg Machine Projects to the Next Level with Your Promethean ActivPanel

Session Description: Join us as we discuss strategies for designing, brainstorming, and presenting Rube Goldberg machine projects with your students using your Promethean ActivPanel! Rube Goldberg machines are also referred to as chain-reaction machines. Rube Goldberg activities incorporate project-based learning, engineering design, energy transfer, group dynamics, and FUN. Session Description: Will you be able to race against the clock to escape in time? Join this exciting session to experience an ActivInspire Digital Escape Room. You will run away with exciting ideas to use ActivInspire with your students. For a seamless experience, please have ActivInspire installed on your device and updated to the latest version.

The Floor is Lava!

Session Description: The floor is lava! In this session, students will will work together to create a sturdy structure that holds as many bears as possible above the table top level using only the materials given to them. The Spinner, Timer, and Whiteboard apps will be incorporated. Who will save the most bears before time is up? Join the session to learn more!

Session Description: ActivInspire is a great way to get students up to the panel and excited about coding! Digital Coding provides students great skills they can use in their Education Career and beyond. This session will show how to develop a fun Digital Code activity within ActivInspire to introduce coding and vocabulary to students.

The Race to Wealth – The Great Gatsby and STEM

Session Description: In this session, we will participate in a lesson overview featuring the classic novel – The Great Gatsby. Various STEM lessons such as color analysis, symbolism, accident re-creation and other hands-on learning will be discussed. Each of the examples will include innovative integrations with the Promethean Apps as well as browser capabilities. Leave with a full lesson plan and tools to create engaging, enriching, and memorable literary lessons for their secondary students.

This session explores the essential journey from identifying a problem to realizing a solution, using a hands on approach and Promethean Apps. In alignment with ISTE’s 1.5 Design Process standard, educators will leave with tangible methods to seamlessly weave design thinking principles into their everyday instruction, no matter the subject or grade. Session Description: Let’s talk about the way different instruments make sound! It’s all about sound waves and what vibrates to make those waves. In this session, we’ll take a look at how the different sections of the orchestra are organized based on what vibrates to make sound. From there, we’ll take some common items and tinker to invent our own instruments!

Comics in the Classroom! Enhance Any Subject With Comics, Graphic Novels, and Sketchnotes

Session Description: Students love reading comics, and there’s been an explosion of textbooks, novels, and websites that use comics to teach. Learn techniques to incorporate comics, graphic novels, and other visual media–including student-created–in your instruction, no matter the subject matter. You will see examples of recommended comics, as well as creative ways to use comics on the Promethean Whiteboard. Leave with a resource list to help you embark on your comics-for-instruction journey. Sharpen your pencils and get ready for fun!

Session Description: Want to use your ActivPanel as a green screen? Join this session to learn how! We will examine this strategy from the lens of a recorder, a presenter, and an editor. We will use Canva to finalize the process. See various classroom applications in a variety of subjects as we transform our ActivPanels and classroom instruction!

Exploring Renewable Energy w/ the Whiteboard App

Level Up’ Your Lessons With Promethean and Video Game Music in Your Elementary Music Classroom!

Presenter: Brooke McCoy

Session Description: Using nothing but your Promethean App Suite and a music player, transform your elementary music classroom with an engaging activity that combines elements of music notation, improvisation, and performance! Students will love these familiar tunes and be eager to participate. This lesson can be modified for K-3rd grade students or 4th-6th grade recorder/ensemble classes.

Paper Airplanes: Building, Testing, & Improving. Heads Up!

Session Description: In this session, we will learn the different parts of an airplane to build one from the provided templates! We will test the planes and graph data on flight, distance, and time. We will then design our own airplanes using the data collected from the trials. Together we will discover what makes airplanes fly and how to improve the flying characteristics and performance.
