Children from schools across London were involved in the judging of a new category at this year’s Bett Awards. Following a visit to Bett, the world’s largest technology in education show on Saturday 23 January, the students voted on their favourite exhibitor stands and products.
After spending some time exploring the venue, the students chose to award Promethean with the ‘Friendliest Stand’ accolade, which is a fantastic achievement given that there were over 870 exhibitors in total at the show.
The buzz and vibrant atmosphere of the stand was generated by Promethean having a good mix of personalities ready to answer any questions visitors had – and this wasn’t always Promethean staff. In addition to featuring the latest generation ActivPanel, which was launched at the show, the Promethean stand hosted some very special guests from Saltash Community School in Cornwall.
The teachers and students were on-hand to demonstrate how Promethean’s flagship ClassFlow learning platform works to increase student engagement and teacher effectiveness. There was also a running programme of demonstrations that showed how primary teachers could be supported in addressing the SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) classroom challenge.
Speaking about helping out on the Promethean stand, a couple of the pupils from Saltash Community School said the following:
“It was great to present on the stand of a company who realises that students opinions are just as important as teachers about new technology” Kyle H.
“It is important that students are leaders, so presenting to teachers about a product we passionately believe in gave us a voice” Ben C.
Meanwhile practising teachers from around the UK and Ireland, who are part of the Promethean Advocate programme, were also waiting with friendly faces and helpful advice. Speaking of their experience a couple of our advocates commented: “the opportunity to chat with so many dedicated professionals and enthusiastic children was amazing,” and “it was lovely to be a part of the Promethean team and really embrace that.”
Visitors to the stand were able to learn about how Promethean has been reimagining the learning workspace with the official launch of the ‘Modern Classroom’. The theme saw a number of live lessons delivered that demonstrated how Modern Classroom solutions could be used to support a wide-range of teaching and learning strategies.
Promethean has written an eBook that further explores the concept of the ‘Modern Classroom’ titled, ‘The Modern Classroom – Strategic Insights for School Leaders’. The free eBook is still available to download from here: https://bit.ly/ModClassEbook.
