Guardian and Promethean partnership helps educators find jobs

Published: January 30th, 2013

The Guardian Teacher Network job listing features hundreds of new jobs from schools in the UK and across the world. The listing is updated daily and can be searched by job role or location. Since the service was launched in April 2011, it has helped thousands of teachers secure excellent jobs.

Wendy Berliner, Head of Education, Guardian Professional, says: “This is a wonderful opportunity for two highly respected, global brands to partner for the benefit of educators across the world. In a very competitive jobs market, this gives job seekers an edge and saves crucial time for busy, committed professionals.”

The two companies also agreed to open the Guardian Teacher Network of over 100,000 pages of free teaching resources for all age groups and for all major subjects to all Promethean Planet members. These interactive whiteboard activities and lesson plans can be used by teachers to modernize curriculum used in the classroom, create lessons that motivate and engage students and improve teaching and learning productivity.

“We are excited to be working with the Guardian to expand the support we provide to teachers around the world. With the new job listing, millions of teachers who have come to the community to collaborate, exchange best practices and find resources can now explore for their next, new opportunity,” said Lupita Knittel, Chief Marketing Officer, Promethean.

Bett 2013 attendees can see the new Guardian Teacher Network resources in action at the Promethean stand (C80). While visiting Promethean’s Learning Productivity Studio, they can preview a 7” Android tablet that will be preloaded with Promethean’s assessment software and see the multi-user, multi-touch ActivTable running Windows 8.

Promethean Planet was established just over 6 years ago and is used by more than 1.5 million educators. The online community provides discussion forums, professional development opportunities and a growing bank of interactive digital resources from 63 world-class arts, science and education organizations such as NIA/NASA, the National Theatre, Georgia Aquarium and the Royal Geographic Society.
