Promethean Advocates have a passion for teaching. They display enthusiasm for sharing their experience, love for teaching and learning, and their use of technology in a variety of participation formats.
Each Advocate brings their own personal interests, expertise and experiences to the group. As a result, expectations of Promethean Advocates are flexible and based on the understanding that contribution will vary from person to person.
Jon lectures on the BEd and PGCE teacher training degrees as well as the specialist ICT route for undergraduates where students explore the use of interactive technologies, teaching the 21st Century learner, mobile technology, media and the role of the ICT subject leader.
As well as an experienced primary school teacher, Jon supports and trains new subject leaders and head teachers around the UK in developing their use of ICT for teaching and learning. He is a keynote speaker and lectures internationally on ICT. Jon has worked as a Learning Platform Consultant, Head of Year, senior teacher and a Lead ICT Teacher for Hampshire.
Scott has always had a passion for education, and in fact began his ‘teaching career’ aged 16, when he started his own Stage School in the local area. After graduating from Dartington College of Arts, Scott then went on to take a Maths Enhancement Course, before completing his PGCE in 2010.
During his first year as a Maths teacher Scott says he quickly realised that a student centred learning approach, with classroom practice being developed in collaboration with his young people was hugely more production. After carrying out a number of in depth student consultations, one this came back loud and clear – students wanted to be able to use the latest in technology so they felt they were always learning about the most up to date content, but at the same time, only if it had a benefit to them.
Caryn is a primary school teacher in Ballywalter, Northern Ireland. She has 36 years experience with a variety of year groups and has seen massive changes in technology in the classroom. An enthusiastic user of Activ Inspire and Activ Expressions she delivers training during in service days within her own school and other local schools as requested. She is an ICT and Literacy coordinator as well as serving on the Senior Leadership team and Board of Governors.
Alison is an experienced Primary teacher who has taught in a variety of schools in England and Scotland over the last 25 years. Having seen her first Promethean interactive whiteboard in 1999, Alison quickly saw the potential to improve teaching and learning across the curriculum and quickly started developing resources using Active Inspire.
With a love for ICT, Alison has trained Early Years Teachers in ICT, has written a book about control technology and is a CEOP ambassador. With a love of the curriculum, she has been a deputy head of a school in London and now leads the Primary 2 year group in a large independent school in Edinburgh. It should also be noted that Alison runs a Girl Guide unit and does not always dress in superhero costumes!
Isabella is currently the Computing Specialist teacher for the Future Academies group in Westminster, where she plans and delivers the Computing curriculum to children from Nursery to Year 6. She has over twelve years’ experience of supporting schools with using technology effectively and creatively, both in her previous role as Local Authority Consultant for ICT, and more recently through her own consultancy work. Current areas of focus are developing the primary Computing Curriculum through her work as a ‘Computing At School’ Master Teacher and embedding e-safety in schools.
Isobel is a newly qualified BEd Primary School teacher from the University of Winchester who specialises in ICT. Currently she working in Surrey and is subject co-ordinator for PSHE as well as shadowing the Head of ICT to take over this role in the next coming years. She has a particular interest in portable technologies among Key Stage 1 children, tiggly and dot and dash are particular favourites.
Sarah is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at Edge Hill University where her specialisms include academic and professional development and technology enhanced learning. Sarah made the leap into initial teacher training after teaching at Primary level and developing a love for technology, creative learning and effective CPD for teachers. She still teaches little people regularly and enjoys working across two very different aspects of education.
As a self-confessed Twitter addict, Sarah enjoys collaborating with other teachers and joining in edu chats such as #Primaryrocks and can be found sharing her ramblings in a weekly TES column.
Godfrey is a Consultant within The Harris Federation in London. In this position he works across several academies in conjunction with School Leadership Teams (SLT) and subject Coordinators to improve teaching and learning and student outcomes within the Mathematics department. Godfrey also works closely with the central team in the Federation to develop schemes of work and lessons for the new KS3, 4 and 5 Maths curriculum.
Godfrey is very familiar the Promethean product profile, both old and new, having used our technology since 2007. His involvement researching Flipped Learning for the iTEC Project in 2011/12 put him in contact Promethean. He joined the Advocate Group in 2014 and he has been part of it ever since. In his roles as teacher, consultant and Advocate over the years Godfrey has delivered his fair share of training courses for using IWBs, and more recently the ActivPanel, in the Maths Classroom. Once a year you will even find him on the stand at BETT!
