2018 ActivPanel Competition Launches at EduTECH

Published: June 6th, 2018

(Sydney, 7-8 June 2018) –  Global education technology provider Promethean® today announced the launch of its ANZ Promethean Grant 2018 at EduTECH, the largest education exhibition in Asia-Pac and the Southern Hemisphere.

Further to the success of the competition in 2017 which received over 75 creative video entries from schools and colleges across Australia and New Zealand, the award-winning classroom technology company has launched its second Trans-Tasman Promethean Grant with 15 ActivPanels up for grabs.

To enter the Promethean Grant, schools are asked to submit video entries explaining why they would benefit from winning an ActivPanel interactive display,  the latest front-of-classroom interactive technology. The ActivPanel acts as a collaborative learning centre and can connect with other devices in the classroom such as laptops and tablets; enabling students to complete tasks from the screen on a handheld device, or even take turns at the front of the classroom using the touchscreen functionality.

Entries will be judged on three criteria: creativity, need, and the impact the technology will have in the classroom. The winners selected will receive a fully installed ActivPanel package.

In 2017, over $50,000AUD of education technology was awarded to eleven ANZ schools, and each of the 2017 Grant Award-winning schools has already received its awarded ActivPanel.

One of the winning entries was Vale Park Primary School in Adelaide. Speaking about how the Grant has benefitted the school, teacher, Kelly Rivett said:

“Having access to an ActivPanel means that I am able to bring content to the class in so many more different and engaging ways. The benefits are already evident as the panel provides a gateway to a whole new world, particularly helping us to connect our learning with new possibilities. We are using it for an international link up with students in the United States and also to interact with external organisations, not only here in Australia, but all over the world through activities such as webinars. “Importantly, it means that we can collaborate, create, and divergently think in so many more future-focused ways.”

Promethean’s Head of UKI & ANZ, Ali Hayward explained: “As a global business, schools from New Zealand to the UK are increasingly faced with budget pressures which restrict their abilities to harness the benefits of the latest teaching technology.

“We are incredibly passionate about education and believe that all schools should be able to access technologies that are proven to enhance teaching and learning experiences. This student-led creative competition aims to give schools throughout ANZ a level playing field to enter and win the latest in edtech.”

A maximum of one ActivPanel will be awarded per school, but multiple entries are welcomed. The competition opens today 7th June 2018 and will close in October 2018.
