Promethean launches enhanced Activboard+2
All-in-one classroom solution provides best value for schools
London, March 31st, 2008 - Promethean, a global leader in interactive learning solutions, has launched a new version of its Activboard+2 – the original all-in-one interactive whiteboard solution – to offer enhanced usability and increased multimedia functionality in the classroom.
Developed in response to teacher feedback, the new Activboard+2 builds on existing ergonomic design by making it even easier to adjust the height of the Activboard. Made possible by a revolutionary counterbalance frame, the system allows the teacher to move the Activboard up and down as required, simply by holding it with just one hand. To ensure classroom safety, the height adjustable frame also comes with a key lockable brake that will secure it at maximum height.
“The original Activboard+2 was very well received in all areas of education, however it is time to make some enhancements,” says Margaret Allen, European Education Market Development, Promethean. “After speaking to our customers, we re-developed the product with a number of changes so it is robust and easier to use. It still offers all the benefits you’d expect of the Activboard+2, such as reduced shadowing and projector security, and now it’s even better because everything is more fine tuned to the classroom environment and teachers’ needs.”
From an enhanced multimedia perspective, there is an integrated Promethean connectivity box and volume control for the audio system, making it easy to integrate external devices such as PCs and DVD players into lessons.
The new Activboard+2 can be ordered now through authorised Promethean resellers and will replace all current Activboard+2 orders. The frame element of the system can be purchased retrospectively as an upgrade to most wall mounted Activboard systems that are already installed. Advice on compatibility with existing Activboards should be confirmed with a Promethean reseller.
The new design, which is aimed at all levels of the education sector, replaces the original solution launched in June 2006, which was the first fully integrated classroom solution available. It brings together all of the interactive whiteboard system elements – Activboard and super short throw projector – on to a single height adjustable frame. In doing so it dramatically improves the usability of the technology by reducing on-screen shadowing and light cast on the user during operation.
