Promethean Simplifies Lesson Development with New Software Release

Versatile Software Provides Teachers with Robust Lesson Building Tools Available in No Other Software

ATLANTA – February 7th, 2007 - Promethean recently announced the release of Activstudio 3.0 for PC, the newest version of lesson building software for the company’s Activclassroom. With this latest edition, teachers now have direct access to online services via a web-enabled dashboard, quick and simple lesson building with new tools and templates, and portability for sharing information across districts.

“As with all of our Promethean Activclassroom components, Activstudio and Activprimary were designed with both teachers and students in mind,” said Lupita Knittel, Director of Product Management for Promethean. “Teachers told us they wanted more resources, improved lesson planning tools, and advanced functionality. Students told us they wanted interactivity and fast-paced lessons. So, that is what we developed.”

“Promethean’s Version 3.0 adds the advanced tools that we have been requesting, but the software is still easy to use,” said Lori MacConnell, Technology Integration Coordinator at St. John’s School in Houston, Texas. “When developing activities for students, our teachers can create Flash-like activities without spending the many hours typically required by other software programs.”

Promethean’s new software includes benefits for teachers and classrooms across the country.

  • Quick Access through Dashboard Control Center. Activstudio 3.0 includes a new dashboard where teachers can quickly access lessons, standards-aligned resources, images, websites, and video. Online dashboard panels provide access to best practices through the Promethean Planet website.
  • Click-and-Edit Lesson-building Templates. New research-based click-and-edit lesson templates and activity starters have been added to streamline instructional planning. Graphic organizers, activity templates, assessment layouts, Flash objects, and scales and tables can be accessed by dragging and dropping them into the Flipchart Builder. 
  • Easy Activity and Resource Sharing: Using Promethean’s Pack-and-Go Resource feature, schools and districts can easily distribute resources to teachers who can import and export resources.  Teachers can set up resource packs, which can be images, Flash movies, sounds, graphics or lessons and share them with each other.
  • Personal Profiles and Customizable Settings. Each teacher can set default settings for their software and lessons. Profiles can be edited, saved, and travel with you, regardless of which computer you use.
