Scottish Early Years Event
Early Years Event, Stirling - Pupils inspire attendees with their Activclassroom video newsroom clip!
Held at The River House Conference Centre in Stirling, the Scottish Early Years Event, Saturday 24th February 2006 was an opportunity for fifty enthusiastic educators from across Scotland to meet and share best practice of Interactive teaching and learning technology.
Margaret Allen from Promethean, was dazzled by the outstanding achievements happening in Early Years with classrooms using interactive whiteboard technology:
"I attended 'The IWB in Nursery; Practical Issues and Examples' workshop led by Catherine McMillan, a nursery teacher from the Isle of Islay. She kept me spellbound from the beginning of her session until the end. Catherine showed video clips to demonstrate how her 3 and 4 years olds explore and exploit the full potential of Activprimary. She showed children sharing, informing, exploring and responding to her as they all used the Promethean solution with aplomb and enjoyment."
During her presentation, Catherine acknowledged the positive effect Promethean technology had on her class:“I chose a Promethean Activboard because I wanted my children to hold a pen correctly and learn to write using the Activboard. In a recent Inspection my class was commended for the way in which children’s writing attempts reflected good pencil grip and secure understanding of what was expected of them. I also wanted them to be clear about negotiation and sharing, a friend of mine has a SMARTboard and it is very hard for her children to control their learning space when others can physically intervene, by merely touching the board!”
Margaret said of the video clip of the pupils in Catherine's class: "The children’s captivated attention as shown on the video, was awe inspiring"
