How Do We Assess the Software?

The Promethean kite-mark is only awarded after rigorous testing in an ActivClassroom environment. Many types of software operate on interactive whiteboards, but are designed for the purpose of individual study only. We focus on determining the suitability of the software for group teaching and learning. We assess the software to determine if:

• The software enables interactive activities such as modeling/simulation and opportunities for discovery, discussion, opinion gathering, and ad-hoc polling/voting.
• The software integrates with Promethean’s wide range of screen tools and services, such as our handwriting recognition capabilities.

Promethean awards three different quality kite-marks: Friendly, Select and Powered.
