Press Release: Solihull School Unveils State-of-the-Art ICT Suite
School also wins new interactive voting kits from Promethean to complement the suite
London, UK, 26 February 2008 – Monkspath Junior and Infants School in Solihull opens an upgraded ICT suite with new state-of-the-art equipment including the latest computers and interactive kit to bring the school completely into the 21st century. Interactive solutions provider Promethean also presented the school with a new 32-piece Activote kit, which the school won in an online competition.
The new ICT suite means Monkspath School has doubled the number of computers available to children from 19 to 34, boasting more than 100 computers around the school. Other ICT investment includes interactive whiteboards in each classroom, printers, laptops, a camera and three 32-piece sets of Activote learner response units.
The third set of Promethean Activote units was won in an online draw, run on www.prometheanworld.com which offered all registered users of Promethean technology the chance to win a full set of the popular Learner Response Units. The Activote systems provide a fun and interactive way to fully engage pupils, and provide thorough assessment for learning. They are also compatible across all interactive technologies including existing investments in other brands of interactive whiteboards
Dean Hogarth, ICT Manager at Monkspath School said: “The children are excited about the new ICT suite because it gives them more choice and variety in how to learn. In particular they love using the Activotes and we have already seen a huge difference in pupils’ confidence and participation levels through the use of the interactive solutions and whiteboards. We are currently undertaking training to ensure we get the most out of the new technology and start to see the results.”

Monkspath School, which has 650 pupils, had previously purchased two sets of the Activote systems which will be used in infant and junior classrooms. The school is planning to use their third set in the new ICT Suite.
